Division Of Information Technology

Hardware Engineer

Computer hardware engineers are responsible for the design, development and testing of electronic hardware as it relates to computer systems. The information networks of the world rely on a vast array of different hardware products. Computer hardware engineers may develop devices at any link in the chain, from servers, processors, and network switches to video hardware and touch-screen interface devices. Even the monitor, keyboard and mouse found on nearly every desktop in the world were once just ideas in the mind of a computer hardware engineer. Computer hardware engineers may work on microstructures such as circuitry, or may integrate constructed modules to plan and build larger devices. They occasionally write instructional documentation to be delivered with the hardware product.

Network Engineer

In the world of computers, networking is the practice of linking two or more computing devices together for the purpose of sharing data. Networks are built with a mix of computer hardware and computer software.

Many view computer networking as one of the best and "hottest" career fields available today. Some claim that a serious shortage of qualified people to fill these networking jobs exists, and these claims may lure some people into the fray hoping for an easy position with a fast-growing company. The basic job titles one sees for computer networking and networking-related positions include
